For the most part, I'm an optimistic person. My coworker the other day said that it was very apt, that I should wear pink sunglasses. They make me see the world through a rose tint. This is true, for the most part I focus on the positive. In people, in situations, in life and love.
But sometimes, I just get weighed down with it all. Men beating their wives and scaring the shit out of them; a young mother who just won't see that her choices hurt her son; people dying and leaving; people hurting other people, for no other reason than that they're mad and they can take it out on others. This is something I've always striven for: do not increase the bad in the world, do as much as I can to negate and lessen it. This is why I try to be nice to everyone and everything, as often as I can. There's simply already too much shit that happens in this world. *sigh* I just get tired of the negative sometimes. Some days, like today, it's like nothing I or anyone else can do will ever overcome it. And it won't. Evil and badness are here to stay. I've known this since I was old enough to walk into the kitchen and see my dad beating up my mom. However, good can hold evil at bay. I believe that neither side will ever win; they just strike a balance. But, today, I can't be nice; I can't be positive. I really hate all of the shit that happens in this world. Sometimes, one has to fight fire with fire. And today, I want to. *sigh*
Hate increases the bad in the world. Indeed, hate is at the root of most of it. So I'll try to get back to my usual optimistic, loving self. To hate even the bad people in the world just increases the bad. People always respond negatively to hate and dislike. They may not respond positively to love and like, but at least it's worth a try.
